ADAM Lambert’s second album Trespassing stands as solid as his heavily gelled hair.

American Idol fans around the globe had to pick their jaws off the floor when vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert came in second at the eight season of the reality show.

 

Lambert seemed to have the competition in the bag since earning a rare standing ovation from hard-to-please judge Simon Cowell with his rendition of Tears For Fears’ Mad World.

Nevertheless, when the curtains came down and Lambert had to exit the Idol stage without emerging champion, there was no doubt that this overlooked star would shine in the real world. True enough, the singer tore up the music charts with the release of his first album For Your Entertainment in 2009, fuelling radio stations with mega hits Whataya Want From Me and If I Had You.

Trespassing is yet another strong effort from Lambert. The album begins with a catchy, stuck-in-your-head title track that has all the makings of a great radio single and might I add, the setting for an interesting music video. Unlike many other albums which go downhill after a promising opening, listeners will find addictive beats pulsating throughout the entire 15-track album.

Kickin’ In is a dark, suspense-filled uptempo number that will have nightclubbers working up a sweat on the dance floor. On the other hand, Naked Love sounds like a light, carefree, teenage pop anthem (if you disregard its more mature content) that makes for a nice contrast.

Meanwhile, Never Close Our Eyes, the album’s current single, has many of us already vowing to never close our ears on this track. And if it’s Lambert’s spine-chilling pipes that you want to hear, get your fix from the album’s piano-only track Underneath.
