Where animations are concern, they usually do well on the big screen. Unfortunately, the two Sammy's Adventure movies that have been released, don't quite match up against the Pixar and Disney giants.

Released only two years after the first Sammy's Adventure movie, this sequel has the essence of the first movie, but with a different story line all together. Sammy the lovable and adorable hatchling from the previous installment is now a grandfather who is assisting with the new hatchlings from the green turtle clan. Along for the fun is leatherback turtle and childhood friend, Ray, who is also watching over the new hatchilings. Together they ensure the journey of the little ones back into the ocean is safe and seagull-victim-free.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, Sammy and Ray are the ones that are captured by a group of fishermen. The men later sell the turtles to a restaurant owner in Dubai who adds them to a hi-tech aquarium in a restaurant as an attraction piece for its customers.

Escaping this facility is no easy task. Hence the turtles make friends with the rest of the aquarium’s inhabitants and eventually plan their escape nevertheless.

I will admit I never saw the first Sammy movie, but believe it had a slightly more interesting story line compared to this installment.

The story lacks depth and heart for an animation. It was barely funny and the character development was very weak. Most times the show just came out like cheap imitations of more popular animations such as Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid and such.

Nevertheless, a couple of the sea creatures will certainly make you go 'aww,' as the tiny turtles are certainly very cute along with a baby squid in the mix.

Overall, Sammy's Adventures 2 is definitely an animation strictly for children. The abundance of animation galore that brings the sea creatures alive along with their cute voices will definitely get your little ones squealing in delight.

You'll be fidgeting in your seat within the first 15 minuets of the film however if you're an adult. Just sit through it for your little rugrat's sake and bear in mind that it's a great way to get them to sit quietly for an hour and a half at instead!
